Pakistan foreign minister held important phone call with his Iranian counterpart Zarif

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday phoned hisIranian counterpart Javad Zarif to convey the grief of the government andthe people of Pakistan over the loss of valuable lives and property in theunprecedented flash floods in the brotherly country.He expressed heartfelt condolences and prayed for the Maghfirah (eternalpeace) of over 70 people, who had lost their lives due to the naturaldisaster, a Foreign Office press release said.Foreign Minister Qureshi reassured Zarif that Pakistan stood by its Iranianbrothers and sisters in the difficult hour and would provide supportrequired by Iran to address the humanitarian crisis.As a goodwill gesture, he said, Prime Minister Imran Khan had instructedtwo C-130 plane loads of relief goods be sent immediately to Iran (Ahwazand Khorumabad). The relief assistance aimed at meeting some of the urgentneeds of the flood-affected population in Iran, he added.Javad Zarif thanked the foreign minister, saying Pakistan and Iran werebonded in close historic linkages and that the people of both countries hadalways stood by each other at difficult moments, feeling and sharing themutual pains.
