ISLAMABAD -Work on construction of CASA 1000 power project to kick offfinally in Afghanistan from Krgyzstan borders till Pakistan borders.
Work on construction of CASA-1000 power project which has faced multipledelays will kick off next week simultaneously in three provinces and willend in two and a half years, said Amanullah Ghalib, head of Da AfghanistanBreshna Sherkat (DABS).
CASA-1000 is one of the biggest power projects that will transfer 300megawatts of electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan andPakistan. It was designed more than a decade ago and work the project waskicked off in Tajikistan three years ago.
India’s KEC International Limited and Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited(KPTL) are the two companies which will implement the project.
“Work on construction of the project will start from Kunduz, second inNaghlo area in Surobi district of Kabul and third from Laghman andNangarhar provinces,” said Ghalib.
