ISLAMABAD – Former finance minister Asad Umar responds over media reportsof rejoining federal cabinet.
He rejected reports about his re-entry to the federal cabinet.
The PTI lawmaker reportedly called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesdayfollowing which rumours swirled on social media that Umar was finallyconvinced to rejoin the cabinet.
However, the former finance minister rejected the rumours that he was goingto join the cabinet, reported Geo News.
Although the PM Office has not officially revealed details about anymeeting between Umar and premier Imran Khan, well-placed sources say bothhad a one-to-one meeting wherein it was discussed that Umar should takeoath as a minister again.
Asad Umar stepped down as finance minister last month after he was asked totake charge of any ministry other than the ministry of finance; AbdulHafeez Sheikh had replaced him.
Besides Imran Khan, Railways Minsiter Sheikh Rasheed is toiling hard toconvince Umar make his way back to the cabinet. A few days earlier, thepremier had branded Umar as ‘precious asset’ saying, he would rejoin thecabinet.
