ISLAMABAD – The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved policy for renewal ofcellular mobiles licenses for 15 years, of which the government hasestimated to generate revenue of $1.37 billion.
The government has approved to renew licenses of two operators (for Jazzand Telenor) at $449. 2 million each while the third operator (Zong) wouldhave to pay $470 million.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr.Firdous Ashiq Awan addressing a press conference said that Prime MinisterImran Khan presided over the cabinet meeting here on Tuesday where thematter pertaining to mobile license renewal was discussed.
She said the government has approved the renewal policy and expectedrevenue of $1.37 billion from this process.
She further said that government is likely to unveil new telecom policysoon to attract investment and provide conducive environment to investorsbesides building their confidence.
