NEW YORK – The United Nations has said that imposition of unilateralcoercive measures on Cuba, Venezuela and Iran by the United States violateshuman rights and the norms of international behavior.
In a statement, UN special rapporteur on the negative impact of theunilateral coercive measures Idriss Jazairy warned that the US bans againstthe trio might precipitate man-made humanitarian catastrophes.
He said regime change through economic measures is likely to lead to denialof basic human rights and starvation that have never been acceptedpractices of international relations.
