ICC unveils latest Men s T20 International Rankings

DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Friday, unveiled theexpanded rankings for the Men’s T20I rankings featuring 80 teams.

Likes of Austria, Botswana, Luxembourg and Mozambique have all beenincluded in the first men’s T20I rankings that features all members, whichmeet the criteria of having played at least 6 matches against other ICCMembers since May of 2016.

The decision to expand the table was first discussed last year between thefull members. It was concluded that all of the qualified participants willbe given the International Status from 1st January, 2019.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has consolidated its position at the top of the table,which has a wider spread of points to accommodate the additional teams.Pakistan, ICC T20 World Cup champions in 2009, is now at 286 points whilethe next four teams are within two points of each other – South Africa(262), England (261), Australia (261) and India (260).

In other significant changes, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have moved up oneplace each to seventh and eighth positions, respectively, with the WestIndies going down to ninth position. In what will be big news for theirpassionate fans, Nepal has moved from 14th to 11th position while Namibiahas grabbed the 20th position.
