*ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs AliMuhammad Khan Thursday said that the government intends to privatize sixstate-owned entities.*
Speaking at the floor of the National Assembly, during the question hour,the minister said that the government has planned to privatize two RLNGplants, two banks, the Jinnah Convention Centre and Coal Power ProjectLakhra.
He said the government will also offer for sale its shares in MariPetroleum.
Ali Muhammad Khan said that the government had sold its PPL shares duringthe PML-N government tenure.
He informed the lower house that the government was not considering toprivatize the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). He said that the Steel Mills is anational asset of the country like the institutions such as PakistanRailways, Pakistan Post etc.
The minister said that PSM was removed from the list of privatization andthe government was committed to revive the institution to make it aprofitable entity.
Khan told the house the Privatization Commission successfully conductedfive privatization transactions during 2014-18, generating proceedsamounting to Rs 172.9 billion.
Replying another question, the minister said that an international levelresearch university will be constructed at the Prime Minister House as perthe promise made by the prime minister.
