Revenue Minister vows to file defamation case against private TV Channel

ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Revenue Muhammad Hammad Azhar on Thursdaysaid he would file defamation case against a private news channel forairing wrong information regarding payment of income tax by him, if it hadnot been contradicted.

Responding to a matter raised in National Assembly, the minister said, “Iam among the members who are paying the highest income tax and paid Rs 12.4million during the current year.”

Hammad Azhar said he had paid Rs 12.5 million tax during last year and Rs 8million earlier. He said that he would also contact with PakistanElectronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in this regard.

The minister said he and Member National Assembly Najeeb Haroon were noteven taking salary and TA/DA from the government.
