KABUL – The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan ReconciliationAmbassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban’s deputy political chief MullahAbdul Ghani Baradar separately met with the Foreign Minister of IndonesiaRetno Lestari Priansari Marsudi ahead of the sixth round of peace talksbetween U.S. and Taliban.
“Ahead of talks in Doha today, had morning meeting with Indonesian FMMarsudi. Very much appreciate her support for the #AfghanPeaceProcess andcompelling offer of assistance. #Indonesia is uniquely poised tocontribute,” Ambassador Khalilzad in a Twitter post.
The Taliban group also issued a statement confirming that Mullah Baradarmet Ms Marsudi to discuss ways for peaceful resolution to existing issuesin Afghanistan and ongoing talks between U.S. and Taliban group.
The statement further added “Moreover, those points were also identifiedthat caused the cancellation of intra-Afghan conference in Doha.”
