[image: wAAACwAAAAAAQABAEACAkQBADs=]ISLAMABAD – A US delegation, headed byPrincipal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian AffairsAmbassador, Alice Wells, is due in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The visit would a part of an important session of economic and businesstalks between Pakistan and the US. According to diplomatic sources,Pakistan has made regional security affairs a key part of the agenda forthe deliberations. The representatives are also expected to review variousoptions to promote bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.

Last November, Ambassador Wells relayed Washington’s willingness tocontinue efforts to promote shared objectives of peace and regionalstability as well as diversify bilateral relationship during her visit toPakistan.

During her day-long visit, she had called on the then finance minister,Asad Umar, and also held delegation-level talks at Ministry of ForeignAffairs.

A statement by the foreign office had then maintained that the meetingtook further the understanding reached between Foreign Minister ShahMehmood Qureshi and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to rebuild therelationship based on mutual trust and respect.

The Pakistani delegation was said to have emphasised on diversifying thebilateral relationship with a particular focus on an enhanced economic andtrade cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
