LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday extended physical remand offormer senior superintendent of police (SSP), Junaid Arshad, in an assetsbeyond means case till May 6.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced the accusedbefore Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Wasim Akhtar on expiry of hisphysical remand.
The investigation officer submitted a progress report and sought furtherphysical remand for completing investigations.
However, the defence counsel opposed the physical remand plea and pleadedwith court to send the accused to jail.
The court, after hearing arguments of the parties, extended physical remandtill May 6.
The accused bought plots in Lahore, Islamabad and other cities during hisservice by misusing his authority, NAB claimed.
An inquiry against the accused was launched after evidence of transactionsworth millions of rupees was pointed out.
NAB also found that he had accumulated wealth worth millions of rupeesparticularly between 2002 and 2008.
The accused was also facing allegations of cyber harassment by his formerwife for uploading her private pictures on the social media.
The Federal Investigation Agency’s anti-cyber crime wing had arrested himon March 26, 2019.
He had been declared a proclaimed offender in the case, filed against himin 2017. NAB took him into custody from the FIA for investigation in thecase.
