ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to enhance bilateralcooperation in trade, economy and culture.
The understanding came at a meeting between Foreign Minister Shah MehmoodQureshi and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines ofthe meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of ForeignMinisters in Jeddah today.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Turkey have multi-faceted relationsfor being government to government, people to people and heart to heart. Hesaid both the countries openly supported each other in difficult times.
He said Turkey backed Pakistan’s stance in the Pakistan-India tensionfollowing the Pulwama incident. He said there has been complete harmony inthe viewpoints of Pakistan and Turkey on several international issues.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said it is either 2005 devastating earthquake or 2010flood, Turkey came to help Pakistan.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said Pakistan was the first country to giveassurance of its support to the Turkish government and President RecepTayyip Erdogan after the failed military coup in Turkey on July 15, 2016.
He said Pakistan Supreme Court declared Gulen a terrorist organization onDecember 13, 2018, which was commendable.
