NEW YORK – Pakistan s permanent representative to the United Nations DrMaleeha Lodhi on Tuesday said that a medal award ceremony will be held onFriday.

In her tweet she said, the United Nations Secretary General AntonioGuterres will honour UN Peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice in theline of duty.

On the other hand, Pakistan has underscored the need for keeping the U.N.Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) financially strong so as to enable the31-member intergovernmental body meet the reconstruction needs ofpost-conflict countries.

“Over the years, PBC has contributed significantly to peace buildingefforts undertaken by countries emerging from conflict,” Ambassador MaleehaLodhi told the UN General Assembly during a review of the activities of theCommission, which was established in 2005.

Ambassador Lodhi said Pakistan, along with Japan and Norway, is championinginnovative financing to augment existing financing streams for thePeacebuilding Fund.
