KABUL – Top leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terroristgroup was killed with his seven fighters in a U.S. drone strike in easternNangarhar province of Afghanistan bordering Pakistan.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in a statement said the ISISleader Abu Zar was killed in Khogyani district on Thursday, Khaama Presshas reported.
The statement further added that Abu Zar was one of the most notoriousleaders of the terror group who was involved in vicious activities againstthe local residents besides conducting other terrorist related activitiesincluding roadside bombings.
The anti-government armed militants including ISIS sympathizers have notcommented regarding the airstrike so far.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan butthe security situation in some of its districts has deteriorated during therecent years.
