Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil rejected lead role against Shah Rukh Khan in Bollywood movie

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani veteran actress Nadia Jamil has revealed in a recentinterview that she was offered Rani Mukerji’s role opposite Shah Rukh Khanin ‘Veer Zaara’ but she chose parenthood over her career.

Bollywood iconic director Yash Chopra, offered Nadia Bollywood actressRani’s role in the cult film ‘Veer Zaara’. The film was originally plannedwith SRK, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Nadia Jamil as the lead trio, butlater Preity Zinta and Rani replaced them.

Nadia revealed on ‘Rewind With Samina Peerzada’ that she was in talks forthe film but couldn’t do it as she was expecting her first child and sheput her family as priority. Nadia also said that she still doesn’t regrether decision of not doing the film despite the role being very pivotal andstrong in the narrative. Even after losing the role, she said she has madelifelong friendship with Yash Chopra and his family.

Nadia in the same interview also spoke about the struggle she has done tomake a mark in Pakistan entertainment industry.

Although Nadia’s appearance marked a special milestone for the show as itwas the 100th episode, but soon after the show went on-air, she called outthe sponsors associated with the show. She wrote on her social media,“Although I have a deep respect for Samina Peerzada and love her a lot, Iwant to publicly distance myself from the heinously racist and demoralisingbrand fair and lovely”.

She had no idea who the sponsors were before she went to record theinterview. She further wrote, “I cannot and do not endorse the need for anywoman to lighten her skin to look more attractive”.
