ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has described restorationof Islamabad’s status as family station by the United Nations as bigachievement of Pakistan.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Friday, he said this decision reflectsconfidence of international organizations in Pakistan.
The Minister said the UN decision will help build trust as well as increaseinvestment in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has welcomed the United Nations’ decision to restorethe status of Islamabad as family station for its international staff,after a comprehensive review of the security situation.
In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal said such adetermination and classification is a rightful acknowledgement of theturnaround in the security environment in Pakistan.
He said we look forward to working closely with the United Nations systemin Pakistan, facilitating the valuable work that the UN officials carry outthroughout the country and extending a cordial welcome to their families.
