Pakistan Railways two trains collide, multiple casualties reported

KARACHI – Pakistan Railways two trains have collided near Hyderabad,multiple casualties have been reported by media.

At least three people lost their lives when a passenger train collided witha freight train near Hyderabad on Thursday.

A private source citing rescue sources reported that several bogies of thepassenger train –Jinnah Express –derailed after the collision.

Station Superintendent Muhammad Rizwan confirmed that the Jinnah Expresspassenger train going from Karachi to Lahore collided with the freighttrain near Hyderabad.

The exact number of casualties could not be confirmed as yet, but rescuesources said at least three people were killed in the collision.

Visuals from the scene showed the passenger train’s engine and at least onebogey severely damaged from the accident. The injured were being shifted toa nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

Railways minister Sheikh Rashid reacting over the accident said that threerailways employees- Driver, assistant driver, and guard- died in theaccident and there was no information over the killing of any passenger.
