United Kingdom to send marine commandos to Persian gulf

MOSCOW – The United Kingdomlink decided tosend 100 marines to the Persian Gulf region in order to protect itsmilitary and merchant vessels after the recent incident in the Gulf of Omanlink, local medialink reported on Sundaylink.

On Thursday, two oillink tankers,Kokuka Courageous and Front Altair, suffered explosions and fires in theGulf of Oman link near the Straitof Hormuz. Causes of the incident remain unknown, while the United Stateslink and the UnitedKingdom linkaccuse Iran link ofattacking the tankers.

According to The Sundaylink Times newspaper,marines from link 42Commando based near the city of Plymouthlink will form theSpecial Purpose Task Group 19 that will patrol the Persian Gulf region fromlink UKlink naval base in Bahrainlink, which was opened last year.
