HANOI – Two pilots were killed in Vietnam Friday after their military planecrashed during a training session, an official told.
Though Vietnam has a good civilian aviation record, airplane and helicoptercrashes are regularly reported in the military, which relies on an arsenalof imported equipment — mostly from longtime ally Russia.
“One was found dead link whilethe other one died link onthe way to hospital,” said Nguyen Ngoc Khue, the head of the local communewhere the accident linkoccurred.
The crash site link wasblocked off for investigation, Khue added, and photos in state medialink showed plumes ofsmoke billowing from link thedowned plane.
The Yak-52 took its first flight in 1976 in Russialink and was latermanufactured in Romanialink by Aerostar.
