ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) told the IslamabadHigh Court (IHC) on Saturday that incarcerated Nawaz Sharif’s medicalreports have revealed his life is not at risk.
The bureau submitted its reply to the IHC on a petition filed by the oustedpremier seeking post-arrest bail and suspension of his seven-year sentencein the Al-Azizia case. In its reply, NAB opposed the bail petition ofSharif and argued that his health is not critical.
The accountability watchdog added in its response that according toSharif’s medical reports, the three-time former prime minister’s health isin no danger, local media reported. NAB requested the IHC to dismiss thebail petition of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
The PML-N leader is currently incarcerated at the Kot Lakhpat Jail inLahore in the Al Azizia case. He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.The Supreme Court has already rejected Sharif’s review petition seekingbail on medical grounds and permission to go abroad for medical treatment.
The bench in its judgement had also suggested that Sharif’s counsel canapproach appropriate forum to file his request.
