ISLAMABAD – Federal government on Saturday has reportedly decided to hikesalaries of the government employees by 10pc for the fiscal year (FY)2018-19.

Sources privy to finance ministry revealed that two summaries, aimed athiking salaries by10 and 15pc respectively, were forwarded to ministry.However, the summary aimed at raising salaries by 10pc was approved.

It has been also learned that the second summary will be discussed inextra-ordinary meeting of federal cabinet scheduled to be held before thebudget session. If the federal cabinet adopts the second summary, thensalaries will be raised by 15pc.

Back then in January this year, the Senate Standing committee on financehas recommended to increase salaries of the 10 percent.

During the meeting, Senator Khanzada said that considering the rise ininflation, the salaries of government employees should be increased.
