ISLAMABAD – Pakistan top order batsman Babar Azam has became an overnightsensation at the ongoing Vitality Blast 2019, earning praise from fellowSomerset county mate and captain Lewis Gregory.
The skipper, however, admitted that the side has not been able tocapitalize on Azam, despite the batsman’s consistent performance for theside. “Babar Azam has been awesome, doing exactly what we signed him for.We have struggled because guys have not really got going around him. It’snot through lack of effort and hopefully we can put that right againstSurrey,” said Gregory, quoted *The Cricketer*.
Azam, ranked the number one T20I batsman in world cricket, was Somerset’stop pick. The Pakistani bloke has fared pretty well in the tournament andhas already managed to become one of the tournament’s leading run scorers,with scores of 83 and 95 in his last two matches.
