Pakistan pace spearhead Mohammad Amir seeking British citizenship and hisdecision to retire from Test cricket caused a storm in the cricketingcircuit, with fans and pundits expressing their disappointment over thespeedster’s decision to retire at an early age of 27.
The cricketer’s wife took to her social media and gave an explanation aboutAmir’s retirement and dismissed rumours about him wanting to play forEngland. “Even though we don’t need to explain our decision to anyone butfor the people who care and support us, my husband Mohammad Amir doesn’tneed to play for England or any other country he is a proud Pakistani andloves playing and representing his country Pakistan,” wrote his wife NarjisKhatun.
Reports were circulating regarding Amir applying for British citizenship.“Not just him, even if our child Minsa ever wants to play cricket she willrepresent Pakistan like her father as it’s his wish,” Narjis added.
She said that Amir has retired from Test cricket ‘only’, adding that thedecision was taken as Amir wanted to continue to represent his country inlimited overs cricket. “He has done that so he could give more to One Dayand T20 and make his country proud like always,” she said.
Just days ago, Pakistan’s fast bowling spearhead Amir announced retirementfrom Test cricket with immediate effect. The fast bowler would, however, beavailable for his side in the limited overs cricket.
