ISLAMABAD – Pakistan summoned on Wednesday Indian Deputy High CommissionerGaurav Ahluwalia and lodged its third protest in one month overIndia’s unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Indiantroops have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with heavymortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working boundary. Thestatement added that the violations by the Indian forces still continues.
On July 30, 26-year-old Nouman Ahmad was martyred while nine civilians,including women and children, sustained serious injuries in Danna,Dhddnial, Jura, Lipa, Shardda and Shahkot sectors along LoC. “The ceasefireviolations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and maylead to a strategic miscalculation,” the MOFA statement added.
The FO Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal has urged India to respectthe ceasefire, in letter and in spirit. “The Indian side should permitUnited Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) toplay its mandated role as per the United Nation Security Councilresolutions,” the statement quoted the spokesperson.
