Chinese top Telecom giant Huawei to make huge investment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Chinese top Telecom giant Huawei to make huge investment inPakistan.

Huawei Group Vice President Mark Xueman said on Wednesday that his companywould invest around $100 million in Pakistan this year.

Xueman made this announcement while talking to Planning, Development andReform Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar in Islamabad on Wednesday, aprivate media outlet reportedlink.

Planning Secretary Zafar Hasan, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)Project Director Hassan Daud and other senior planning ministry officialswere also present on the occasion.

The Huawei vice president said that his company would set up a TechnicalSupport Centre in Islamabad, which will help create job opportunities foryoung engineers in Pakistan.

In addition, he added, the company would also invest in its existingsupport centre in Pakistan, besides hiring more people for the same, takingthe number of its staff from 600 to 800 this year.

Planning, Development and Reform Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, whileappreciating Huawei’s continued engagement in Pakistan, said the leadingtechnology company could help develop and upgrade Pakistan’s IT sector.

The minister noted that Huawei holds 25 per cent share in the mobileindustry of Pakistan and is also the top taxpaying Chinese company in thecountry.
