959 kilometers Pakistan Iran border: Important decisions taken on border crossings

*ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment toexpediting the opening of new border crossing points along their 959kilometer-long border.*

The second session of Pakistan-Iran Higher Border Commission (HBC) was heldin Islamabad today.

Director General (Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey) Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri ledthe Pakistani side while Iranian delegation was led by Director General ofInternational Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs AbbasBagherpour Ardekani.

Over the course of the meeting, the two sides held constructive discussionson effective implementation of the existing border mechanisms within therelevant frameworks, including Agreement for Administration ofPakistan-Iran border of 1960.

They agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation in these areas. Bothsides reaffirmed their commitment to expedite the opening of new bordercrossing points with mutual understanding.
