ISLAMABAD – Comsats University link(CUI) has launched a project on artificial intelligence worth Rs. 1 billionwith an aim to introduce and provide the students with the best and modernhigher education.
To further this project a consortium has been established which include sixinformation and technology universities of Pakistan. Those universitiesinclude Comsats University Islamabad, National University of Science andTechnology (NUST), University of Engineering Technology (UET) Lahore,University of Engineering Technology (UET) Peshawar, NED University ofEngineering and Technology Karachi, and Punjab University, according tolocal media reportslink*.link*
Sources told APP that the aim of establishing a consortium was to completethe Information Technology sector of the developed countries. Initially,under the project, nine modern laboratories would be established in fourcities including Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, and Karachi through artificialintelligence linktechnology.
Through these laboratories, the students would be provided with anopportunity to study subjects related to artificial intelligence,link’robotics,cybersecurity, e-gaming, big data, and speed coding.
The sources further revealed that the project is likely to begin next year,and the process of purchasing the required equipment for building modernlaboratories was underway. They also said that this project was launcheddue to special efforts made by the Rector Comsats University Islamabad Dr.Rahil Qamar.
Artificial intelligence is getting trendy all over the world and Pakistanshould focus its efforts on developing institutions that can train studentsin related fields of artificial intelligence. This project from Comsatsshould receive government backing for it to become a success in thecountry. Moreover, the government should also provide support in thisproject so that it can be initiated in every major city of Pakistan.
