NEW YORK – The United Nations General Assembly on Friday passed aresolution, calling for increased global financial support after massivefloods killed more than 1,700 people in Pakistan.
The resolution, passed by consensus in the 193-member body, emphasized thenecessity to help the flood-hit country rebuild after huge floods that lefta third of the country under water.
It added the need for continued cooperation between the Pakistanigovernment and the relevant organisations throughout the ongoing reliefoperations and rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in a manner thatenhanced resilience and reduced vulnerability to future natural hazards.
