Only a couple of rating points separate India batter Suryakumar Yadav andPakistan captain Babar Azam as the two have moved up a slot each to takethe second and third positions, respectively, in the ICC Men’s T20I PlayerRankings.
In the latest weekly update that considers performances in the second andthird matches of the India-Australia series, Yadav is up to acareer-best-equaling second position with 801 rating points after smashinga match-winning 69 off 36 deliveries in the third match in Hyderabad onSunday that helped clinch the series 2-1.
Babar, who had occupied the No.1 position for 1,155 days before beingovertaken by team-mate Mohammad Rizwan early this month, was named Playerof the Match for an unbeaten 110 in the second T20I of their ongoingseven-match series against Australia and followed it up with scores ofeight and 36 in the third and fourth matches, which were also played overthe past week.
India captain Rohit Sharma has inched up one place to 13th position afterscores of 46 not out and 17 while Matthew Wade (up six places to 62nd),Cameron Green (up 31 places to 67th) and Tim David (up 202 places to 109th)are the Australia players to move up the rankings. Green and David hadnotched half-centuries in the final match of the series.
India spinners Axar Patel (up from 33rd to 18th) and Yuzvendra Chahal (upfrom 28th to 26th) have moved up the bowlers’ list, which continues to beled by Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood.
England batter Harry Brook’s scores of 31, 81 not out and 34 in Pakistanhave lifted him 118 places to 29th position while Ben Ducket has soared1,070 places to 32nd position after scoring 43, 70 not out and 33 in thosethree matches.
Reece Topley is up 14 places to 23rd and is the third third-highest rankedEngland bowler after Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan while Pakistan speedsterHaris Rauf is up seven places to 14th position after taking five wickets inthe last three matches. Mark Wood (up 29 places to 40th) and Sam Curran (upfive places to 47th) have also progressed.
In the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings that considers performances in fivematches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Port Morseby,Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has moved up 38 places to joint-49th afterscoring 49 against Papua New Guinea (PNG) while USA captain Monank Patelhas advanced three places to 53rd in the batters’ list.
Left-arm fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar (up one place to 40th) of the USAand Chad Soper (up two places to 47th) of PNG have advanced among bowlers.
