Pakistan Military makes big announcement over militants returning back from Afghanistan

TIMERGARA: The General Officer Commanding Malakand region Major GeneralIjaz Ali Mirza on Friday announced that militants returning back fromAfghanistan would be pardoned if they willfully surrender to the governmentand pass through legal actions.

The GOC was addressing a function on the eve of Pakistan Defense Day at theDir Scouts fort as chief guest. The commandant Dir Task Force colonelShehzadamir, DC Lower DirSaadat Hassan, DPO ArifShahbazWazir, MPAs MalikShafiullah, Malik Liaqat Ali, Humayun Khan, former MPA BakhtBaidar Khan,area elders, civil and military officers attended the function.

Earlier, students of the Frontier Corps Model School and College presentedtableaus, songs and speeches paying tributes to martyrs.

The GOC said that militants who fled to Afghanistan would be pardoned ontheir return subject to their surrender and legal formalities.

He said that foundation of the country had blood of thousands of people init due which over 220 million people were now breathing freely. The GOCsaid that Sep, 6th had great importance in the history of Pakistan when thePakistan forces defeated enemy of the country and defeated the state. Hetermed India as a cunning and coward enemy. The officer said that the enemyhad been hitching conspiracy to divide Pakistanis on the name of religion,caste, creed and sects but the nation would not let it succeed. “Pakistanis an atomic country and its defense is in iron hands,” the GOC said,adding the Pakistan army had full support of its public.

He said that lasting peace had been restored in parts of Malakand divisionand there had been no place for militants on this soil. He said that 80,000people lost lives during the war against terrorism in the country. The GOCsaid the militants had torched 170 schools in Malakand while 250 more werepartially damaged. He said the damaged schools had been reconstructed andrehabilitated. He said that life was in full gloom now in all parts ofMalakand division.

The GOC along with other civil and military officers laid floral wreaths on‘Yadgar e Shuhada’ and offered fateha for the departed souls.
