For the first time in history, Hindu girl inducted into Police Service in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – For the first time in the history of Sindh, a Hindu girl hasbeen inducted into Police department after passing the provincialcompetitive examinations.

Pushpa Kolhi has been posted as the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in thesoutheastern province, shared Pakistan’s human rights activist Kapil Dev.

“Pushpa Kolhi has become the first girl from #Hindu community who hasqualified provincial competitive examination through Sindh Public ServiceCommission and become Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Sindh Police. Morepower to her!” Dev wrotelink on his Twitterhandle.

Earlier this year, Suman Pawan Bodani, a Pakistani belonging to the Hinducommunity in Sindh’s Shahdadkot area, was appointed a judge to the civiland judicial magistrate. She stood 54th in the merit list for theappointment of civil judge/judicial magistrate.

Hindus form the biggest minority community in Pakistan. According toofficial estimates, 75 lakh Hindus live in Pakistan. However, according tothe community, over 90 lakh Hindus are living in the country.
