Two new SC Judges appointed as members of Supreme Judicial Council

ISLAMABAD – Two new Supreme Court Judges have been appointed as membersof Supreme Judicial Council.

Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Wednesday became the newmembers of Supreme Judicial Council and Judicial Commission respectivelyafter the retirement of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) senior JusticeSheikh Azmat Saeed.

According to the details, SJC is authorized to review and prosecute thecharges against the judges. The appointments of the judges are recommendedto the higher judiciary from the judicial commission after evaluatingprofessional competency and antecedents.

Justice Mushir Alam became the member of the Supreme Judicial Council whileJustice Faez Isa became part of the Judicial Commission.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed served as Supreme Court judge for seven yearsand was part of the bench which handled numerous high profile casesincluding Panama case. His tenure ended on August 27 whereas Justice Azmatwas sworn in as SC judge on June 1 in 2012. He was administered the oath bythe then Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
