ISLAMABAD – A South Korean company has offered setting up battery charginginfrastructure in Pakistan in the wake of ambitious Electric Vehicle policyby the Ministry of Climate Change.
The offer came up during a meeting between Korean battery manufacturer,Songuo Motors, and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change MalikAmin Aslam in Islamabad today.
The advisor said that Electric Vehicle policy was ready and would bepresented to the cabinet in one week’s time. After the approval from thecompetent forum, policy would bring about opening of new opportunities notonly in the field of transportation and environment, but also creatingscores of green jobs.
He said that initially Pakistan would need a swappable solution for suchvehicles until proper charging infrastructure was developed.
Malik Amin Aslam said Pakistan welcomes all companies and offers equalopportunities for everyone to invest in Electric Vehicle market of Pakistan.
Delegation of Sanguo Motors briefed the Minister regarding their productline and business model.
They also said that their company was in negotiations with local companiesfor joint venture in order to manufacture sophisticated batteries locallyand then export them after catering local demand.
Delegation also told that their company was in partnership with some of theleading global automakers and was manufacturing finest quality batteries.
