ISLAMABAD: PTI government slaps new ban on purchase of new vehicles, newjobs and many other things in latest austerity drive.
The PTI-led government has slapped ban on purchase of all types ofvehicles, creation of new posts, rationalised utilities spending, provisionof one newspaper and keeping other expenditure at bare minimum in order toensure compliance on austerity drive during the current fiscal year.
The increasing budget deficit is major area of concern for the governmentunder the IMF programme and now the government has decided to show itspolitical will to curtail the expenditure side through austerity drive.
The austerity campaign had failed to yield any positive results during thelast financial year 2018-19when the budget deficit escalated to highestever absolute figures during first year rule of PTI-led regime.

Although, the government had already slapped ban on provision ofrefreshment such as tea or biscuits during the official meeting whichsometimes irritated the bureaucrats. Some official meetings continued toproceed for hours on daily basis so it created problem especially who arediabetes or suffering from other illness.
