SRINAGAR – An Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer hascommitted suicide in Islamabad district in Occupied Kashmir.
According to media details, the officer, who killed himself, has beenidentified as an Assistant Commandant of the CRPF’s 40th Battalion, MArvind (33), hailed from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
The officer ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle athis residence in Sadar area of the district.
The incident of suicide raised the number of suicide deaths among Indiantroops and police personnel to 440 since January 2007.
The Indian armed forces continue to lose around 100 personnel to suicidesevery year despite government measures to reduce stress among soldiers.
