NEW DELHI – Indian national flag was not displayed on Burj Khalifa, theworld’s tallest building, on its Independence Day “due to a major technicalhitch”, *Khaleej Times* reported on Thursday.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) iconic tower is famous to showcase nationalflags of its friendly countries on important occasions to exhibit allianceand association.

“We have just learned from our friends in Emaar that on account of a majortechnical snag they won’t be able to light up Burj Khalifa with the Indiantricolour tonight,” Navdeep Singh Suri, the Indian ambassador to the UAE,said.

“A bit of a disappointment for friends who were expecting this,” he added.
