ISLAMABAD – President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed the need for localproduction of solar panels in the country in order to bring down the costof the safest source of energy.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of Hilton Pharma’s CSR initiativeSolar Energy Project to electrify 10,000 households across the country, inKarachi on Saturday.
The President said Pakistan has emerged as the fifth largest market forsolar energy.
He said Pakistan has also other natural resources that could be diversifiedfor the well-being of the masses.
He said importance of dams for water storage remains relevant but these canno more be justified for energy production other than small run of theriver units to generate power at community level.
Commenting on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the UN GeneralAssembly, President Alvi said the Prime Minister enumerated major threatsto the world, the risks if these were ignored and measures for addressingthese issues.
