After Turkey and China, Malaysian PM Mahatir Muhammad raised Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly

ISLAMABAD – After Turkey and China, Malaysian Prime Minister MahatirMuhammad raised Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly.

In their address to the United Nation General Assembly, both China andMalaysia raised the Kashmir issue and called for a peaceful solution for it.

During his address, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the Kashmir issuewhich is a dispute left from the past, should be peacefully and properlyresolved. The Chinese FM said that no actions that would unilaterallychange the status quo should be taken.

YI added that the dispute should be solved based on the UN Charter,relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements, addingthat China opposes any unilateral actions that complicate the situation. Hehoped that stability will soon be restored between Pakistan and India.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad also addressed Kashmirissue and called on India to work with Pakistan and resolve the dispute.“Ignoring the UN would lead to other forms of disregard for the UN and theRule of Law,” Mohamad added.

He said that despite UN resolution, IoK has been invaded and occupied. Hefurther said whatever the reasons behind India’s action in stripping of thespecial status given to IoK, it is still wrong.
