ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi gives anembarrassing blow to his Indian counterpart at SAARC Council moot.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday boycotted the openingstatement of his Indian counterpart, S Jaishankar at the meeting of SAARCCouncil of Foreign Ministers.
Qureshi said that his country will not engage with India until it lifts thecurfew in Kashmir and ends it atrocities against innocent Kashmiris.
“FM @SMQureshiPTI refuses to attend Indian Minister of External AffairsSubrahmanyam Jaishankar’s statement at the meeting of SAARC Council ofMinisters,” Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tweeted through its officialTwitter handle.
“Pakistan will not engage with the Butcher of Kashmir until & unless theylift the siege & put an end to atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. They mustsafeguard human rights of Kashmiris, ensure they are protected & notviolated or trampled upon,” PTI said in another tweet.
Tensions between the two countries have spiked since India illegallyabrogated Article 370 of the Indian Constitution in August, revoking thespecial status of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
