RIYADH – In a first, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman acceptsresponsibility for journalist Jamal Khashoggi murder. Crown Prince MohammedBin Salman has said that he bears responsibility for the killing because it”happened under his watch”.
“It happened under my watch. I get all the responsibility, because ithappened under my watch,” the Crown Prince, also known as MBS, toldAmerican public broadcaster PBS, according to a preview of a documentary tobe aired on October 1, ahead of the first anniversary of the journalist`sdeath.
The Crown Prince, however, reiterated that the incident happened withouthis knowledge, Anadolu news agency reported citing the broadcaster. Thedocumentary, “The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia”, examines the Saudileader`s rise, his rule, and ties to the events surrounding Khashoggi`smurder.
Khashoggi – a supporter-turned-critic of the Crown Prince and a WashingtonPost columnist — was killed and reportedly dismembered in October 2018 bya team of 15 agents sent from Riyadh. His body has not been found until now.
He was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2,2018, to obtain papers he needed to marry his Turkish fiancee. Hismysterious death piled scrutiny on Saudi Arabia, which released conflictinginformation regarding his disappearance in the aftermath.
