Afghan Taliban take a good step for people of Afghanistan

KABUL – Afghan Taliban take a good step for people of Afghanistan as theylifted a ban on World Health Organisation (WHO) activities in areas themilitants control.

They have reversed a stance that had been complicating efforts toeradicate polio.

The Taleban had in April banned the WHO and International Committee of theRed Cross, citing their “suspicious activities”during vaccinationcampaigns, which threatened to deepen one of the world’s worst humanitariancrises, Reuters has reported.

The health arm of the United Nations has been carrying out a vaccinationcampaign in Afghanistan, one of just three countries where polio is stillendemic.
