ISLAMABAD - Indian NSA Ajit Doval orchestrated plan turns out to be big embarassment for India as India was exposed and humiliated over such act.

The government-planned visit of 24 EU lawmakers after the Indian government repealed Article 370 and withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's (J&K) special status, was planned by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, with backing from the prime minister's office, Indian media reported on Wednesday.

The recent revelation has given rise to a controversy in India and other countries, as it emerged that Doval and a low-profile NGO have been acting on behalf of the Indian government.

The EU lawmakers, who visited Srinagar to observe the situation, appear to have only met with government officials during their closely monitored trip.

However, both the European Union and India's ministry of external affairs have said they had nothing to do with the trip. This is the first time since August 5 the Modi government has allowed a delegation of foreigners into Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The visit was orchestrated to look like it was organised by a private British citizen called Madi Sharma, founder of the Women's Economic and Social Think Tank (WESTT), and supposedly paid for by another Indian think tank called the International Institute of Non-Aligned Studies, according to an invitation sent to British politician Chris Davies.

Chris Davies, a Liberal Democrat lawmaker from the UK, spoke publicly revealing that he was invited to be part of the delegation by WESTT, and then disinvited when he asked to move around freely in Kashmir.

“I am not prepared to take part in a PR stunt for the Modi government and pretend that all is well. It is very clear that democratic principles are being subverted in Kashmir, and the world needs to start taking notice," he said.

He added, “I think the actions of the Government of India in Kashmir are betraying the best principles of a great democracy, and I believe the less notice that the rest of the world pays to the situation the more pleased they will be."
