NEW DELHI - India has sought extradition for preacher Zakir Naik from Malaysia on Saturday.

The external affairs ministry has requested Malaysian authorities for Naik's extradition after collating evidence and filing a charge sheet, the Times of India link> reported.

Naik is accused of inciting the youth to engage in militant acts. He is currently seeking refuge in Malaysia where he has been given permanent residency.

His speeches also incited audiences to join Daesh. Recordings of his inflammatory speeches will be shared with prosecutors once the extradition case comes up for hearing. A Malaysian court is likely to hear India's request.
