JRL warns India against changing demographic character of occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has made it clear to India that any attempt aimed at changing the inherited demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir will be resisted.
In a joint statement in Srinagar, the leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik pointed out that the Article-35A was related to the life and death of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who were ready to spill their blood to safeguard this law.
The JRL said that India could kill or detain the Kashmiri leadership but could not force them to make compromise on the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement said that the design to change the demography of the occupied territory had always been on the agenda of RSS-backed Bharatiya Janata Party government in New Delhi, and the filing of the petition in Indian Supreme Court challenging the Article 35 A was a part of the plan.
On the other hand, speakers at a meeting in Srinagar reiterated the resolve to protect Article 35-A of the Indian constitution at all costs.
The meeting was chaired by Grand Mufti designate of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasirul Islam.
In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party urged the justice-loving people across the globe to raise their voice against the Indian attempts to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian minister Jitendra Singh’s remarks that Kashmir was a “part of India” betrayed Minister’s sheer ignorance about the history of the Partition Plan.
The APHC said that the UN resolutions and the presence of UN observers in Jammu and Kashmir were clear proofs that Kashmir was a disputed territory.
Meanwhile, a team of Indian National Investigation Agency, notorious for implicating Kashmiri resistance leaders in fake cases, raided the residence of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi at Soura in Srinagar, today.
Indian forces also cordoned off Seer village of Tral area of Pulwama district and conducted a search operation.
