The All Karachi Milk Retailers Welfare Association has decided to close sale points across Karachi indefinitely, starting Monday. They are demanding a price hike and have given the local administration 72 hours to respond. The retailers protested at Karachi Press Club, seeking higher milk prices due to purchasing from dairy farmers at elevated rates.

With almost 15,000 shop owners ready to stop buying milk from farmers, the retailers are facing challenges selling at current prices. Dairy farmers sell at Rs214 to Rs218 per litre, leaving only a Rs20 margin for shop owners.

In June, Karachi Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association raised milk prices by Rs20 per litre. Currently, milk sells at Rs210 to Rs230 per litre in Karachi, above the official Rs180 rate. Recent orders to seal shops selling above approved prices reflect growing tensions.
