KARACHI, Aug 30: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Karachi Police has successfully dismantled a gang responsible for a series of thefts targeting K-Electric's valuable assets. The operation led to the arrest of a key gang member, marking a crucial step in curbing the recent surge in such incidents.

The saga began on August 14th when a group of 12 armed suspects brazenly infiltrated K-Electric's Jacob Line grid station. Overpowering security personnel and staff, the assailants made off with a haul that included 70 meters of copper wire, batteries, electronics, and various equipment. A case was swiftly registered at the Brigade Police Station, but this was only the beginning of a string of similar incidents that plagued the utility company throughout the month.

With no respite from the spree of thefts, authorities handed the investigation over to SIU. The unit embarked on a determined mission to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the orchestrated heists. Employing intelligence networks and tip-offs, SIU honed in on an operative of the gang, leading to the arrest of Rehman Shah, son of Muhammad Jan, in the Jamshed Quarters area. Shah's arrest yielded a wealth of information, uncovering the gang's involvement in multiple thefts and their clever concealment of the stolen goods.

As investigations unfold, the recovered stolen goods, concealed in the Keamari vicinity, shed light on the extent of the gang's activities. The location of a cache of goods, coupled with a recovered vehicle linked to the crimes, provides valuable evidence for the ongoing inquiry. The Karachi police stations have been promptly informed of the developments, while SIU continues investigations efforts to unearth further details and accomplices involved in these audacious thefts.
