Fresh wave of protests erupt across Pakistan including Lahore by TLP

LAHORE – A fresh wave of protests have erupted across Pakistan after theverdict of Supreme Court over Aasia Bibi blasphemy case.

Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan has engulfed various cities of the country afterthe Supreme Court on Wednesday overturned the death sentence of a Christianwoman, Asia Bibi, convicted of blasphemy.

A three-judge special bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan JusticeMian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice MazharAlam Khan Miankhel announcing the verdict earlier today ordered theimmediate release of the woman, who has been in solitary confinement forpast eight years.

The apex court ruling has already set off protests by the TLP, which hadearlier this month warned to take to the streets if the convict was freedby the apex court.

In Lahore, TLP chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi is leading the protest rally atMall Road in front of the Punjab Assembly, causing massive traffic jams onall connected roads.
