ISLAMABAD – Over 16,000 people were arrested for terrorism charges and1,900 were awarded punishments from 2013 to 2017.

10,993 were from Punjab, 2,728 from Sindh, 1,967 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,147 from Balochistan, 126 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 61 from Islamabad.

Out of those who were awarded punishments, 1,970 are from Punjab, 255 fromSindh, 234 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 54 from Balochistan, 10 fromGilgit-Baltistan and 10 from the capital.

As many as 346 persons were awarded death sentences.
