NAB Chairman approved 13 investigations and inquiries against high profile officials and politicians

*ISLAMABAD – NAB Chairman approved 13 investigations and inquiries againsthigh profile officials and politicians.*

* National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) JusticeJaved Iqbal approved nine inquiries and four investigations during ameeting of the executive board on Wednesday.*

The inquiries have been approved against PPP leader Syed Khurshid Ali Shahand Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi. The board alsoapproved to file a corruption reference against TESCO XEN Syed Ikramullah.He faces the charge of causing a loss of Rs49.07 million to the nationalexchequer by misusing his authority.

Moreover, the inquiries have been approved against Punjab formersecretaries Khalid Sherdil, Mingora Forests SDFO Muhammad Iqbal Khan andofficers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf Department, officers of EducationDepartment Quetta and Khairpur Provincial Highways Development Division andSukkur Electric Power Construction Company CEO Munawar Nazir Abbasi.

On the other hand, investigations have been approved against officers ofthe OGDCL administration, Privatization Commission officers, TrustInvestment Bank, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Meanwhile, the NAB executive board approved to close the inquiry againstformer federal minister Syed Tanvirul Hassan Gillani and MNA IftikharGillani due to lack of evidence.

Addressing the meeting, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said thatthe NAB is strictly following the policy of ‘Accountability for All’. “Ourtop priority is to take the white collar crime cases to the logical end.Corruption is a cancer which is the biggest hurdle in the progress andprosperity of the country,” he said.
