COAS General Bajwa meets rescued Russian mountaineer

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Army aviation pilots today rescued a Russian climberAlexander Gukov who was stuck at 20650 feet high Latok Peak in BiafoGlacier in Northern areas of the country.

He has been shifted to CMH Skardu for necessary medical care.

The rescue mission was under taken by Pakistan army aviation helicoptersunder extreme weather conditions making it first ever rescue from suchheight in Pakistan.

The Russian climber was stuck on Latok Top since 25th of this month and hadexhausted his supplies since last 3 days.

Seven rescue attempts were made but due to snow clouds the climber couldn’tbe located or rescued.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Russian mountaineerAlexander Gukov at CMH Rawalpindi today.

Earlier this morning, the Russian mountaineer was rescued by Pakistan Armyaviators from 20650 feet high Latok Peak in northern areas through a verychallenging aviation effort.
